Notefy (Private notes for cards)

Notefy unlocks the ability to add private notes directly to your Trello cards. Write in Markdown, decide exactly who can read each note, find any of them from the board button, and export them as Word, PDF or Markdown — all within the familiar Trello interface.

Private means private, enforced on our servers

Every request is identified against your Trello account before a single word is read or written. A note you are not on the access list for is never sent to your browser at all — not truncated, not hidden with CSS. Access is checked against live board membership too, so removing someone from the board revokes their access to its notes.

Admin Control and per-board defaults

Each note has an admin, and only the admin can change who reads it — with a recovery path for board admins if that person leaves the board. Set a default set of people for the notes you create on a board once, instead of picking the same colleagues card after card. The default is yours alone: nobody else’s setting decides the audience of your private note.

With the Markdown editor, format plain text as you like. Headings, bold, links, code, quotes — use formatting to differentiate between essential points and supporting details.

Checklists and tables, inside your notes

A checklist is a line that starts with "- [ ]" and a table is a few rows of pipes. Track confidential tasks and subtasks, or lay out comparisons and decisions, without cluttering the card for everyone else — and both survive intact when you export the note.

Write full screen, distraction free

Open any note in full-screen mode for long-form writing, then go back to the card. The note section on the card sizes itself to what you have written, so short notes stay short and long ones open up without a “show more”.

Start from a template instead of a blank page

Meeting notes, 1:1, Decision log, Incident and Handover ship with the Power-Up, and they fill in the card name, the board name, your name and today’s date as you insert them. Board admins can edit the whole list for everyone, so a team writes the same structure every time without retyping it.

Nothing you type gets lost

Notes save themselves as you type and when you click away. Text left behind by a closed card or a failed save is offered back the next time you open it, deleting always asks first, and if a teammate edited the same note while you were writing, Notefy tells you instead of quietly overwriting one of you. A card that moves to another board takes its note with it.

Search every note on the board

Search my notes, from the board button, searches the full text of every note you are allowed to read — filter to notes you wrote or notes shared with you, narrow by when they were last edited, and click a result to jump straight to its card. Notes on this board lists which cards carry notes and who can read them, so you never open 200 cards to find one.

See which cards have notes, without opening them

A badge on the card front tells you a private note is there, and the card back shows it too. If somebody mentions you in a note you can read, that card carries a blue “Mentioned you” badge that only you can see.

Mention a teammate with @, and grant access in one click

Type @ in a note to pick someone from the board. Name a person who cannot read the note yet and Notefy says so — the note’s admin can give them access right there, without leaving the editor. Mentions always render each member’s current name, in the note and in every export.

Know who wrote what

Every note says who last edited it and when. The members dialog keeps an access history — who was granted or revoked access, who took over as admin, and when — recorded on our servers from the caller’s own Trello credentials, so it is a record rather than a form anyone can fill in.

Export as Word, PDF, Markdown or straight to the clipboard

Save a note as a real .docx — headings, numbered and bulleted lists, task boxes, quotes, code blocks and tables as genuine Word styles — or print to PDF, download the Markdown, or copy it into another app as rich text. Everything is built inside your own browser: your private text is never sent anywhere to be converted.

Dark mode that follows your board

Notefy reads your Trello theme and matches it the moment you switch, in the card section and in full screen. Loading and error states are readable in both, every recoverable failure offers a Retry, links inside a note open normally and text can be selected and copied.

Do I pay per board or per person?+

Per person. One subscription covers you across unlimited boards and unlimited workspaces — you are never charged again for adding another board.

Can I cancel whenever I want?+

Yes. Manage or cancel your subscription yourself in the Stripe customer portal, reachable from inside the Power-Up. There is no contract and no cancellation fee.

Does Notefy work with the rest of my board?+

Notefy installs from the Trello Power-Up directory and works inside your existing boards. There is nothing to configure, no separate account to create, and it supports Trello's dark mode.

What happens to my data?+
